2013 Issue 3 (March) Updates have been made to Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews; ABOUT; Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials; The remaining databases will be updated, as scheduled, in the April Issue: Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects; Health Technology Assessments database and NHS Economic Evaluations Database. [Please Note Cochrane Methodology Register - The CMR database has not been updated from the 31st May 2012. Until further notice the CMR database will remain as per April 2012 record].
The March Issue publication of The Cochrane Library was released on the 28th March. Further details of the publication schedule dates can be found here.
End of month Issue publication is in preparation for the move to Publish When Ready (PWR) for the CDSR database. The Collaboration will be able to diseminate the latest reviews without waiting until the Issue publication day. PWR will be release in mid 2013, and we look forward to providing further information shortly.
MeSH Thesaurus Update - This was successfully completed on the weekend of the 2nd March. Though the CENTRAL Database required a further corrected data delivery from the Metaxis team, and has been included in the March Issue, with the full MeSH update.

KNOWn ISSUES
CENTRAL:
- New Search: Running a new search in CENTRAL with MeSH terms that have been replaced by other terms and have also had MeSH code changes did not consistantly return correct results. So for example the heading ‘Handwashing’ has changed to ‘Hand disinfection’ and the MeSH code was changed. This change was reflected in the thesaurus (i.e. showing, ‘Hand Disinfection’ in the tree) but CENTRAL records contained the heading old ‘Handwashing’ until these records were reprocessed for the March Issue. (Resolved)
- Saved Searches: Saved searches in CENTRAL will run as normal, provided you do not make any changes to a MeSH line.
If there has been no change to the MeSH heading in the 2013 update these terms will return the correct number of records in both newly created and saved searches.
We updated these files as part of the March Issue3 publication, on 28th March. If you are concerned about a term you can check the list of changed MeSH descriptors at: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/nd12/nd12_mesh.html. In particular, you should look at the list of 'Changed Descriptors' and 'Deleted Descriptors', for terms that may be problematic when running searches.
DARE, HTA and NHS-EED:
- The problems outlined above for CENTRAL also apply to these three databases. These files will not be updated with the 2013 MeSH terms until the next scheduled release in April 2013. We apologize for the inconvenience however these databases are published quarterly not monthly so we cannot make the reprocessed data available any sooner. Please bear in mind that as noted above, most MeSH headings are not affected by this issue, so the impact could be minimal.
Other Issues:
- Search: Loss of page styling when pressing return after entering search term quickly (On Firefox and Intermittent) - Status: Resolved
- Search: Old Cochrane search box displayed by clicking login on framed page. (links redirect to correct search page) - Status: Resolved
- Search: Search term not highlighted in IE 8 in search Manager - Status: Resolved
- PDF Prepublication Rendering Service: Intermittent slowing of the rendering service. - Status: Resolved

**CMR - The CMR database is currently not being updated as from the 31st May due to lack of funding for core activity. It is no longer supported by the UKCC. The plan is to draw together interested individuals to review the current format and focus of this database and consider options to take it forward. If this is of particular interest please contact Jackie chandler jchandler@cochrane.org

The January Issue publication of The Cochrane Library has seen the move to an end of calendar month publication schedule. Further details of the publication schedule dates can be found here.

Pre 15th December Release - Known Issues.
- CENTRAL (RESOVLED) database Author rendering error - 671 records contain a double '//' which has been processed as a single author, in addition to the actual authors. This is giving rise to a duplicate entry of author names in the search results. i.e. (Erverdi N//Ozkan G, Erverdi N, Ozkan G). Metaxis will supply the corrected dataset shortly.
- CRD (RESOLVED) Due to a technical error, a number of HTA database records, supplied from CRD, were omitted from Issue10(4) October 2012. Issue1(1) January 2013 included these omitted records
- CHROME browser: (RESOLVED) unable to logout.
- Search: (RESOLVED) Additional error message returned after pressing [GO] from Cochrane homepage without entering a term.
- Search: (RESOLVED) Clicking result count on some modified lines in strategy does not return results.
